They envisioned a rugged portable workstation that could deliver immersive, panoramic graphics yet be light enough for a single operator to carry and set up anywhere—from classrooms to forward operating environments.

Challenge

The customer needed to overcome four major obstacles:

  • Mobility under pressure: Replace a bulky, multi-person simulation setup with a workstation one operator could carry.
  • Immersive visibility: Provide the clarity of a triple-monitor workstation for situational awareness in simulation training.
  • High-performance computing: Run graphics-intensive defense training workloads smoothly and reliably.
  • Field durability: Deliver a rugged computing solution that withstands dust, shock, and transport while setting up in minutes.

Solution

Acme Portable delivered a field-deployable simulation workstation built on the FlexPAC L1 rugged portable workstation, customized to support two additional portable monitors. Mounting, power delivery, cable management, and display synchronization were all integrated directly into the system, making setup seamless and intuitive.

The entire workstation was designed for single-person portability, packing neatly into two rugged hard cases, one housing the FlexPAC L1 and the other built for both monitors. Once deployed, the system provided a panoramic three-monitor display that gave trainees the situational clarity they needed for complex scenarios. Powered by an NVIDIA® RTX 5090 workstation GPU and Intel® Core™ i9 processor, the system delivered desktop-class performance in a highly compact form factor. Most importantly, it was built for the field: shock and dust resistant, deployable in minutes, and free from racks or tangled cabling, enabling smooth operation in even the toughest environments.
